"An Acceptable Group"
9 to 10 AM
San Francisco Zen Center
300 Page St. (at Laguna), SF
cost: free (donations welcome)
This is a support group
for providers working with marginalized populations.
Harm Reduction Meditation Training will be offered by Rev. Jana Drakka
The only guideline is “Be Kind”.
This group is free although donations are always welcome.
Rev. Drakka writes, "I’m very happy that there is such interest in this group. Harm Reduction in combination with meditation is the cutting edge in effective methods to help ourselves and those we work with accept ourselves and then move gently towards change."
That workshop was
intended for those involved in making changes in themselves and facilitating change
in others.
The workshop utilized a combination of Mindfulness and Harm Reduction
training. Harm Reduction is a training in complete acceptance of wherever one is
in life. It is designed to help facilitate change in self and others and has
been successfully used nationwide with traditionally 'hard to work with'
populations in therapy and addiction counseling.
Reverend Jana Drakka's work was featured in the SFChronicle in January, 2007 (SFGate.com) and on ABC7 news in April of 2007. She is well known for the humor and practicality of her teachings.
