dana

Dana is a word in Pali, the language used by the Buddha, which translates as generosity.  Generosity is considered one of the many practices in Buddhism that can serve as a gate into the truth of the Dharma, the truth of the abundance that surrounds us.   Generosity takes many, many forms, including donations of time, donations of effort, donations of objects, and financial generosity.

The Dharma is beyond value, and it is a tradition in most Buddhist cultures that teaching the dharma be freely given.  In keeping with this tradition, the Gay Men's Buddhist Sangha has no membership fee and charges no fees for any of our activities.  We are run entirely by volunteers and exist only as an expression of members' dana practice.  You may wish to volunteer as a part of your practice.  You can do so in a number of ways; ask one of our practice council members if you have any questions.

While we charge no fees, we do incur expenses for mailing, rent, supplies and financial dana we offer to guest speakers.   Your generosity is gratefully accepted in any form.  If your dana takes the form of financial support, you can make your donation in three ways:

  1. You can make a donation by mail. To make a donation by mail, click the icon below to go to a donation form which can be printed out and sent with your check.
